Initiation Event

Saturday, March 11th, 2017

To the Royal Spies:

I would like each of you to join one of the three groups we have been investigating lately: the Kinship of the Rose, the Seers of the Moonstone, or the Library of Scars. Meet with the group of your choosing and go through their initiation rites.

Please the initiation item your recover and a book with your name in the mailbox. These initiations will be available until Friday, March 17th at 11:59 PM CST.

Sincerely,

–Magnus Grey

Various Notes:

  • There is a gate to each group at the Royal Spy Base. The Royal Spy base is located under the West Britain Counselor Hall and entered by means of the secret passage behind the decorative armor. The gates are named and hued for each group: yellow (Kinship), red (Scars), and blue (Moonstone).
  • Each path has one or more initiation items (interesting items that drop from the combat in each path). They are gaman horns (Kinship), primitive fetish (Scars), and eggs/statues/carrots (Moonstone).
  • Because there is some issue with the monsters dropping enough items, if you attempt a path, but do not get the initiation item, please turn in a book explaining what happened. You will still receive credit as normal.
  • Please complete the book in the Classic client. Do not even open the book in the Enhanced client unless you’ve red-leafed it.
  • Alternatively, you can email us your answers at: EMMalachi@gmail.com or EMElizabella@gmail.com.
  • Characters (Also called Oracles) generally always respond to their names. They will also usually respond to the final word of each line or any word in all CAPS. Some will also respond to special threads of conversation mentioned by other characters.
  • You will be able to join one group as a full member, but if you are interested in becoming a friend to the other groups, feel free to try all three group’s initiations.

Various Notes:

  • There is a gate to the Lycaeum in the Royal Spy Base. The Royal Spy base is located under the West Britain Counselor Hall and entered by means of the secret passage behind the decorative armor.

  • Please complete the book in the Classic client. Do not even open the book in the Enhanced client unless you’ve red-leafed it.
  • Alternatively, you can email us your answers at: EMMalachi@gmail.com or EMElizabella@gmail.com.

    • Snake – On Vile Elixir closest to Penumbra
    • Hangman – Next to Gallows
    • Spider – Next to Spider Mural

Brialla’s Journey, Saturday, January 28th, at 8 p.m. CST

Thursday, January 26th, 2017

Brialla of the Seven Tears was the first to chart the mysterious north lands of Britannia. Brialla set out from Yew, in her humble brown monk’s robe and bare feet, to push back the dark corners of the map. Her journals are rich with illustrations and detailed descriptions of the terrain, its plants and animals, and the nomads she met along the way. She even found the mineral deposits in the mountains by what would become Minoc.

Every year, in late January, the people of Britannia celebrate Brialla’s journey by donning monks’ robes and walking barefoot from Yew to Minoc. There, they toast to her memory in the tavern. All are encouraged to tell whatever legends they’ve heard of Brialla’s journey or to describe their own adventures.

Meet Louisa Clark in front of Empath Abbey on Saturday, January 28th, at 8 p.m. CST. The traditional robe can be acquired, for a nominal donation, from the monks in the Yew Winery. This year, journeyers are asked to be armored and armed under their robes.

(Felucca) Festival of Masks, Saturday, June 18th, at 8:00 p.m. CDT

Friday, June 17th, 2016

The Sultan of Nujel’m invites all to his island for the annual Festival of Masks on Saturday, June 18th, at 8:00 p.m. CDT. This will be a lighthearted street party with food, drinks, and shameless thievery. Please wear a mask and pretend not to recognize anyone else who is wearing a mask.

“The Game” will be played. The goal is to figure out who in Nujel’m has the Eye of Dahsk. Then steal the gem and return it to the sultan. To steal the jewel, your character must be a member of the Thieves’ Guild.

This year, the sultan has another task for talented thieves. His enemies have stolen coral from the waters around Nujel’m. It has been placed in various magically charged locations where it can be used to launch a deadly spell against the sultan. The sultan’s investigators have assembled clues to where the coral is hidden. The clues will be in books at the Festival. The thieves who find and remove the coral may keep it. Be careful though, the coral is in dangerous areas and there is said to be a curse upon it!

You can recall or sail to Nujel’m for the Festival of Masks and The Game. There will also be:

  • A gate near the Felucca Brit. Moongate directly into Nujel’m, a guard zone.
  • A one-way gate near the Buc’s Den moongate to a copy of the clue books. Beware, the gate and destination are not in guard zone.

Reward – The name of the first person to return the Eye of Dahsk to the sultan will be displayed on a suitable item at the Felucca Award Hall.

Brialla’s Journey, Saturday, January 30th, at 8 p.m. CST

Thursday, January 28th, 2016

Brialla of the Seven Tears was the first to chart the mysterious north lands of Britannia. Meet Louisa Clark in front of Empath Abbey on Saturday, January 30th, at 8 p.m. CST. The traditional robe can be acquired, for a nominal donation, from the monks in the Yew Winery. The road is likely to be unusually clear of monsters that evening, so you’ll have plenty of time to think up a good story for the tavern. The best tales will be added to the Award Hall.

History of the Walrus Festival

Sunday, November 22nd, 2015

In its early years, Vesper, a bustling port and mercantile city, had a steady trade in walrus. The walrus gave food, pelts, and ivory to Vesper. Walrus oil kept its lanterns burning through the cold, dark nights of winter. At this, the darkest time of the year, the people of Vesper give thanks for the creature that sustained their ancestors.

500 and Counting!

Tuesday, October 6th, 2015

From Malachi and my first moments as Event Moderators, in December 2008 and December 2009 respectively, we were excited about crafting stories that would come alive with the help of the players of Great Lakes. This evening, we celebrated our 500th event with a noirish glimpse into the early lives of several renowned spies. On Saturday, a bit of wishcraft will begin the second half of the climb to a thousand events!
